Session-bassist Ben Evans has been working on the UK music scene for over 15 years. Since graduating from the University of Sheffield in 2017 with a BMus (Hons) in Music, Ben has been seen at venues across the country, including the award-winning Jazz at the Lescar, Nottingham’s Rock City, Shambala Festival, Splendour Festival and Sheffield’s The Leadmill. He has been played by Marc Riley, Steve Lamacq, Tom Robinson, and Tom Ravenscroft on BBC 6 Music and recorded with award winning producers such as Shuta Shinoda (2-times Mercury Prize Winner).

Ben’s eclectic music taste enables him to engage in a multitude of session and touring work, most recently working with global-folk duo Kate Griffin and Matchume Zango. He performs regularly with his own bands; Indie-Disco group “Life Aquatic Band” and jazz trio “Assembly Trio”, has recorded with contemporary composer Dr Ellen Sargen and performed on BBC Introducing with singer-songwriter Beau Presley.

Ben’s theatre work has taken him to the International Musical Theatre Festival in Czech Republic, to the Other Palace (London), The Pleasance Theatre (London), Hope Mill Theatre (Manchester), The Lowry (Salford) and to three tours at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Collaboration is at the root of everything Ben does, and he is continually fuelled and inspired by the diverse and distinctive range of creatives he has the privilege of working with. For him, there is nothing more exciting than the process of workshopping new music and helping artists develop and explore their unique sound.

Ben is always keen to work on new collaborations, so if you would be interested in hiring him for session work, just drop him a message via the contact page, he would love to hear from you.
